Can An unlicensed person buy auto insurance for their car and have other drivers?
ByMy husband owns a car but has no drivers license at this time. He wants to insure his car and have friends drive. Is this possible?

No. You must have a valid license to purchase auto insurance.

No he can’t. You have to have a valid driver license. Have him put the car in your name and you can get the insurance for him if you have a valid license.

Yes, he can. He’ll have to specifically not cover himself on the policy, AND, he’ll have to list the buddies that will be driving – and pay for them. And you, also, will have to be listed as a driver, OR specifically not covered.
**you do not need to be able to drive, to insure a car. Blind people own and insure cars. I’ve written these policies before.**

Yes, your husband will be able to purchase auto insurance for the car he owns. All household residents and any regular operators of the vehicle needs to be listed on the application or a claim could be denied due to material misrepresentation. Some companies will not allow a policyholder to be unlicensed and therefore excluded as a covered driver. Most companies that will accept a risk that excludes the policyholder (or spouse) will place the policy in a less favorable rating tier resulting in higher premium. Good luck!
